Baba Yaga is a witch of untold power and malevolence. Her power rivals that of many demon lords. Some of her last acts on the material plane were to call a coven of witches with the intention of murdering them and assuming their powers. This was only somewhat successful as the attempt was interrupted by the Daemon’s Grin Group.

Some of the witches under Baba Yaga’s command include:

  • Mad Maude conjures cursed spirits (deceased)
  • Witch Hazel makes potion (deceased)
  • Bodducia is a half orc witch who looks like a troll. She can manipulate her body in various terrifying ways (deceased)
  • Shamerain, a half elven witch with shamanistic powers
  • Bonnie performs magic with various bone effects
  • Hemodyne is a blood witch
  • Croneila, a half giant sea hag who is a sister to Uglatious (deceased)
  • Uglations is a normal sized sea hag (deceased)
  • Hemlock uses poisonous magic

While rarely seen unless summoned, the influence of daemons is often felt throughout the land. Daemons hail from a vast collection of outer planes collectively referred to as the Abyss. Lesser daemons are more easily summoned and often empowered to establish contracts for their superiors. Chaotic by nature, their motivations and alliances shift constantly. Scholars are aware that daemons are far more numerous than devils but significantly less powerful.

Daemon Princes:

  • Greshiphon, Prince of Wealth and Trade, Lord of Gluttondark and 4 other layers
  • Ernot Rex, Prince of War

Daemon Lords:

  • Dominus Carceris, Lord of Dungeons. Previously know as M’Baalzitch
  • Nuoznitch, Lord of Thieves
  • Bol’Guz
  • Tragdrathag
  • Jho’line, Lord of seduction
  • Noznitch
  • Viscera, Lord of Abbadon

Superior Daemons:

  • Oromar, Superior of tending the wounded in Abbadon

Lesser Daemons:

  • Cuite Pie is a quasit that is sort of a familiar to Red of the Daemon’s Grin Group. They are unusually intelligent and articulate for a quasit. It has been discovered that Cutie Pie runs a hidden tavern somewhere in the halls of the Infinite Staircase.
  • Aymonwe is a Sentinel Daemon that has been summoned by Red of the Daemon’s Grin Group that they are now familiar with each other. Cutie Pie and he are friends.

The Fae are inscrutable creatures from the Fae realm. Barred from entering the mortal realm under most circumstances, there are ways for individuals or small numbers of them to pass the veil. Fae have a strict hierarchy though there are circumstances under which they can and do oppose each other. When encountered a fae will almost always be on a mission or personal quest of some sort, though the nature of this is unknowable.

Also called high elves or the faerie the fae are creatures who do not live in the world but in the fae, a magical plane adjacent to the prime material. They sometimes venture onto the prime material but only to complete some specific task. The Fae are immortal and have a thought process wholly alien to any culture on the prime. They are considered ruthless tricksters and monsters by most. An encounter with one would be considered by most to be terrifying and life threatening.

The grey elves are sometimes found travelling with the Fae when they venture onto the prime material plane. The grey elves are elves from the prime who are bound to the fae and must submit to their will. Most grey elves are as harsh and unforgiving as their overlords and take delight in the cruel acts they are ordered to commit.

Elves of the mortal realm are considered fallen fae who have lost most of their power by some scholars. Notable fae include:

  • Billy Bonka, who has assumed the identity of a confectioner of renown
    • Loompa Oompahs, servants of Billy Bonka. Violent, transformed creatures who may or may not be lesser fae.
  • Lord Frost, who is using criminal elements in the capitol to locate entryways to the infinite staircase. Rival of Lady Bianca
    • Pip and Squeak are two faeries who follow Lord Frost around that the Lord tolerates
  • Lady Malelle Iceflame, commands House Mizzrym a Drow house.
    • Lady Bianca, known rival of Lord Frost

The Sahugin are a fierce race of aquatic folk who worship a shark god. They have cities scattered around the ocean who rarely cooperate. Preying on surface dwellers who stumble into their territory the also occasionally strike out in search of prey as determined by their priests or king.

Sha’kar is a Sahugin city somewhat close to Everward. Sahugin who might be encountered nearby include:

  • Cho’kon Mibile the King of Sha’kar
  • Ak’shek high priest of the shark god
  • Qu’ark a priest
  • Kalik a baron
  • Korel a baron
  • Qu’arl a warlord
  • Shark Chosen, non-sahugin who also worship the shark god
    • Tiburon a Merfolk ranger
    • Mako a Merfolk mage

Remy Stilton, head of the wealthy Stilton family, became a wererat. His lycanthropy drove him to madness driving him to take over a city from within with a network of wererats under the control of Richard (Rick) Cotta, his minion. Remy did everything through Rick and for some time, no one knew that Remy was actually running the organization. In the aftermath of the cult’s destruction, few people are aware of this fact.

The wererats under Rick Cotta were subjugated by exposing them to Le’feite Reserve Cheese, an artisan cheese made at a local creamery. Le’feite Cheese has a particular effect on mice and wererats, causing a strong addiction and making wererats suggestable, allowing Rick to from a cult of wererats who meet in secret in the sewers of the capitol.
